Welcome to the Valleys Views Website, a series of Landscape and Wildlife images focused on Wales and in particular the South Wales Valleys by Photographer David Hart.

The valleys have long been an area of Wales overlooked by many photographers in favour of the better known locations such as Snowdonia, Pembrokeshire and the Beacons. It is an area that is often wrongly perceived as being void of worthy scenery, just an area delineated by narrow valleys with their strung out villages and towns, marred by heavy industry, a place to rush through in a head long dash to get to the holiday paradises of  the National Parks. It is my hope that this website will go some way to changing those perceptions.

The valleys are no less as wild and rugged as the rest of Wales, indeed it is a land gouged and shaped by glaciers and swift running rivers, its mountains and hill tops are a patchwork of mile upon mile of farmland, forest and moor land with an abundance of flora and fauna. The added bonus for the Valleys is that it is also a landscape shaped by the hand of Man, from the steeply terraced houses clinging to the hillsides to historic buildings and relics left from the age of heavy industry. Mans handywork now just seem an integral part of the South Wales landscape, a landscape that would be poorer without that social and cultural history.
